Why Smart Timber Frame Company?

Unlike most Timber Frame companies we offer a unique system which is patterned and approved by structural engineers. Due to it's inter-locking system an average house can be erected in just one day.

The Smart Timber Frame Company was set up by Colin Oakley and Graham Oakley.


Colin OakleyColin Oakley

Colin’s background is in property development, He also worked for the main housing company in the UK. The last positions he held were as Build Director for Persimmon Homes, and as Regional Build Director for Bovis Homes.

With over 40 years experience in the building industry there is not very much that Colin does not know.


Graham OakleyGraham Oakley

Graham worked his way up through Persimmon Homes, from Trainee Manager to Senior Manager. In the process he won an NHBC Pride in the Job award. He then moved on to a development company specialising in bespoke, high quality barn and stately home conversions. For this company he became Director, organising individual teams on various projects to achieve the specialist requirements each development demanded.


Why start The Smart Timber Frame Company?

With the changing market and new sustainable requirements imminent, Colin and Graham could see the importance of looking into sustainable products and timber frame homes.

With their combined knowledge in the construction industry, they were concerned with the poor service and high prices they had experienced previously. As they looked further into the Timber Frame industry they realised that the majority of the companies were using the same panel systems and erection processes. They decided to design a system which was quicker to erect, did not rely on the foundations being 100% accurate and was safer to erect. After much planning and deliberating this is exactly what they did.
