About Us

The Smart Timber Frame Company was set up by Colin Oakley and Graham Oakley.

Colin Oakley

Colin’s background is in property development and working for the main housing company’s in the UK. The last positions he held where a build director for Persimmon Homes and a regional build director for Bovis Homes.

With over 40 years experience in the house building market there is not a lot Colin has not over come whether it bad ground condition or complex of build.

Graham Oakley

As for Graham he worked his way up through Persimmon Homes from a trainee manager to a senior manager. In the process he won a NHBC pride in the job award for them, before moving to a development company specialising in bespoke high quality barn and stately home conversions. There he became a director organising individual teams on different projects to achieve the special requirements to each development. With his experience of working on large volume building sites and running high quality developments he understands the importance of meeting individual needs whether it’s a self-build or a small development.

Why start The Smart Timber Frame Company?

With the changing market and new sustainable requirements imminant Colin and Graham could see the importance of looking into sustainable products and timber frame homes. With their experience in the construction industry they were concern with the poor service and high price they had already experienced, and did not want to repeat of this. As they looked further into the timber frame industry they realised that most of the companies were using the same panel systems and erection processes. This got them thinking, what if we could design a system which is quicker to erect, wasn’t so important for foundations to be exact to drawing and safer to erect. After hours of deliberating that’s what they did.
